About the Travel Rule Protocol

The Travel Rule Protocol (TRP) is an open standard for exchanging beneficiary and originator data between Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) when a virtual asset transfer crosses jurisdictional lines.

TRP is aligned with:

  • FATF Recommendation 16 — the "Travel Rule"
  • IVMS101 (InterVASP Messaging Standard 101) — canonical payload schema for transmitting natural / legal person data
  • ISO-3166-1, ISO-20022 name and address codes

What TRP guarantees

  • Encrypted, signed callbacks (x-data-integrity header)
  • Deterministic retry policy with exponential backoff
  • Two-sided KYC status (originatorStatus / beneficiarStatus)
  • Operational telemetry through /health and /version.json
